Just had an idea that I think is new to the game industry

As some of you may know, I am developing a video game that has been my dream for a long time. My idea is that leading to its release, I can create an free downloadable game that over a span of a month will reviel more and more about the game, and eventually lead to a live event that then leads to the kickstarter of my game. It'll cause ALOT of mystery, and I think it may make the games announcement more grand. What do you think yay or nay?

Fortnite does similar reveal events within their own game. They’re definitely cool and although I don’t play Fortnite I still watch what events they have now and again.
