Hello,

I am making a single server, its factions. I am not looking for a dedicated server right away. How many Gb's do I need for a server like this. I am expecting a lot of players to join, since I am hiring you tubers and slots.

I need the server to have no lag at all and great ping for everyone in the US area. Thanks and if your going to respond make sure you say a good host and the amount of GB I would need.

Best regards,

Hello,
Dedicated: Starting at £70/Month
VPS: Starting at £8.50/Month

With regards to how much RAM and your intentions I would recommend our 8GB VPS or our first Dedicated server option with 32GB of RAM.

Our servers are located in France with a 1Gbps uplink, so servers wont lag from hardware and the network.

I will also add you on skype for further information.

Start with a small server (2GB-3GB or so) and grow as needed. Any host with a proper setup can upgrade/downgrade plans at any time, you'll save money and I guarantee you won't need nearly as much RAM as you would think. If you have an active player base of 20~ players or so (don't just guess you'll get 1000 players from YouTube, you won't.), it should work. Make proper edits to the spigot.yml, lower the view distance slightly from 10 to like 6 or so, don't have half a dozen worlds loaded at once.

You've got a lot of subjective wording there and your actual memory usage needs to account for your configuration as much as your player count. If you're paying for publicity, though, don't skimp on capacity. Spring $20-25 for an 8-10 GB plan and scale back when you find out what your actual usage is. How does that compare with what you're paying the YouTubers?

I mean, no, you aren't going to get the traffic you expect from a YouTube video and MikeA is right that the best way to build a server business is to start with a small server and upgrade as needed. In order to be successful running a server as a business, you need to be able to run a server and a business. Do you have operator coverage? Do you have a business plan? When's your launch date?
