I'm gonna try my best to give you the best information.
There are many rigs like FMR 5.0, which is actually the best rig to start out with. Once you get better, you can move on the CMR 1.0 (Customizable Minecraft Rig by Flash and KravenConcepts) but it costs money. FMR 5.0 is the best to start out with. However, there are FMR EDITS, which are usually better than the original. Here is a list of FMR 5.0 edits that a lot of people use, from least difficult to most. (CMR is still more advanced than all of these)

SmoothBends (Avo Edit) Pretty much the only difference is there is smoother renders, and not just cubes
HRB FMR Pretty much the same as above except the head isn't smooth and the body is smoother.
Exquisite Edit #NC The render for this isn't round, but there are more facial features and whatnot.
Anything Below here I do not recommend for beginners
Winter Edit This edit when extruding the body, arms and legs (making stuff pop out) It is very round. This in my opinion looks better but you would need the knife tool and cut the edges to make it look good.
Flash Edit This edit is smooth and nice, but the extrusions are the same way as the winter edit.
Anything Above this I do not recommend for beginners
For item rigs, there are many that are really good. FMR 5.0 comes with bows and swords, but that's it. Plus they aren't very advanced. However, these bow rigs and swords look better. I also recommend Flash's rigs, but Flash's rigs tend to be more advanced. A link to his rigs are here. https://sellfy.com/flxshdesigns

Infinite Sword Rig
Hypixel Weapons rig
Pixelate rig

For things like blocks and mobs, I recommend searching up and downloading the rigs individually because most of the time people who only have lets say an enchantment table would spend more time on it, making it have more features and look better.
For blocks like wood, stone, and such I would use a huge block pack, but for blocks like a crafting table, anvil, enchantment table, flowers, etc. I would use a seperate rig meant for only that.

Lightrooms
You may want to know what a lightroom is because lightrooms are a must when you are doing graphics. Lightrooms add really nice shadows to your render so the render looks "shaded". The best lightroom in my opinion that all the professional designers use is Mondaze's lightroom V2. Lightrooms don't really require any customization. You just paste it in. If you are looking for a free lightroom though, you should probably use NocturneArtz's Lightroom (it's not nearly as good as Mondaze's though)
