Ah, old Karens. Nobody likes them because they always are making dumb decisions. We go to a school that goes by the name of North Technical Highschool, its a special school that 10th graders+ can go to to learn a trade and get certified. In a place like St.Louis (North County), it really is a light in the darkness.
North County is an extremely dangerous place, one (if not the most) dangerous place in the country, its a lower income area, and a place that has mostly minorities. With everything being so poor, theres alot of crime in the schools. North Tech is a place where us who wants to become something, but was given alot of disadvantages. The surrounding schools are dangerous, constant violence everyday, and even deaths of some of the students, not to mention how dangerous the surrounding area is, and without tech, alot of the people who are here, would probably drop out.
With all of this being said, why, and I mean why in the hell why somebody want to make this school half day only, and have all of the kids in the school go back into those horrible environments? Thats our dilemma, the super intended (only has been here for less than a year, got fired from her last job) wants to make the school only half day. The people who are making these decisions are not even from North County. They dont live in constant danger, they live in the richer part of St.Louis, where they are more economically successful.
We created a petition, and it has over 700 signatures from people from the community. Teachers, parents, students alike. But they arent listening, even the principals stood up for us, but we are not seeing one of them anymore apparently.
As if things are not bad enough in St.Louis, these people who are not even apart of our community are taking the last thing we have away from us. They dont care, during the conference while people where talking and sharing there feelings, you could tell they did not care. Eye rolling, not paying attention. These people dont care about us, the people who are less fortunate than most and just want a way to get out of this hell, but they are trying to send us back to those dangerous environments. Help us, this is NOT okay.

Side Note: I know that we would have graduated by the time the plan on fully removing the program, but what about our brothers? What about the future? I know that my brother will probably drop out without tech. We need to end the cycle, but they are stopping progress.
