Known Developer Medal

It is similar to the Large Server Owner medal, however it is for extremely well known developers that may not be known on mcm. At first thought, drtshock and Maximvdw come to mind as developers that would benifit from this. They are both great developers that have thousands of downloads on spigot, but neither have a lot of reputation on here.

Just playing devil's advocate but what if I don't consider those developers - or more importantly some other developer who gets this badge/medal down the line - to be grand and known? I'm familiar with both developers but who else would this really apply to (I can think of 2 or so people but even then it's based upon who I see as a great developer) and how would this work with known developers in the mc-market community that are, say toxic, but known. Not going to mention any names there but I'm sure anyone that watches the plugin section can think of someone that fits this category. There would certainly be some conflicts with developers complaining that they don't have that badge/medal but are active, or known if you want to keep pushing that idea, in the plugins section. Would Spigot be the only place to build a reputation? I can also say an active and known member of Spigot - who I'd say everyone knows with over 10,000 posts, but again not saying any names - who posts a plugin or has them already. What would stop that user from not receiving the known developer badge?

tl;dr - It's a decent idea, not that I see anyone with the large server owner badge anymore these days, but it has several holes as far as who deserves it or how it can be earned.

Offering some kind of verification (even if it's just a medal) adds some liability to the site.

You should be researching anybody before even sending them $1 and with the two you mentioned - within a few minutes you would know that they're well known and reliable.

I see no reason to offer anyone medals for being well-known or established within the community. The large server owner medal has pretty much been around since the beginning and it certainly wasn't my idea to add it, but now that it's here we might as well keep it.

Adding in medals without any valid reason or benefit doesn't really happen anymore.
