Can someone tell me what's difference between this two?
To put it shortly, Openvz is essentially a fancy docker container, while providing isolation from the host system, it isn't virtualization in the full sense of the word. KVM is full kernel-level virtualization and when done properly, provides full isolation from the host system.

Both come with their advantages, although I'm going to lean towards KVM in most cases.

OpenVZ:
Pros:
  • A bit better performance, but it is unnoticeable in most cases.
  • Less overhead
  • Usually costs considerably less
Cons:
  • Oversubscribing RAM and disk is common
  • Can only run Linux, so BSD or Windows will not work.
KVM:
Pros:
  • No oversubscribing aside from Network and CPU.
  • More secure than OpenVZ.
  • Kernel upgrades can be done without upgrading the node.
Cons:
  • They typically cost more than OpenVZ virtual machines.

Hope this helps!
