Hey all,

Got a new laptop recently - specifically the Lenovo Legion 7i, can find specs here.

The battery life is mostly as expected, I think?

However, disabling 'Hybrid Mode' (which I'm sure is Optimus) actually decreases the battery life. Running on Integrated Graphics actually takes my battery life from 3 hours to 1 hour.

So a two-parter:
  1. What would possibly cause this? Running on the RTX is actually better than using the CPU's graphics.
  2. Any tips in general for better battery life? I've removed the iCUE software so far.
Thanks~

Can always buy a better battery than the factory battery thats pre-installed into the laptop.[DOUBLEPOST=1616928683][/DOUBLEPOST]oh nvm its an integrated battery.
I believe the maximum battery size is 90 Wh; currently have 80 Wh. Not sure it'd be worth the upgrade to be honest.

RTX cards are MUCH more powerful than integrated graphics, but they are also MUCH more power consuming. If your goal is battery life, use the RTX card as little as possible.
But that's the thing, the opposite seems to be happening here.
With hybrid mode turned off the integrated graphics is disabled and yet the power consumption is much lower...[DOUBLEPOST=1616962134][/DOUBLEPOST]
Idk if you bought it new or used or what, but do keep in mind batteries only last a few years as they degrade over time, this could also be an issue.
Was bought brand new

Is it possible that running it with hybrid mode disabled is running it on the RTX GPU the entire time? Unfortunately the Legion series isn't really designed for long battery life so around 3 hours may just be the best it can do. You can also use the Lenovo Vantage app to make sure all your firmware is up to date, etc.

it's a gaming laptop not sure what you expect. Also it's a max-q which might be more power efficient than the CPU for just a general display
