Large project looking for additional team members

About Us: We're a small team that consists of driven individuals with many different skill-sets and years of collective experience in our respective fields. We're currently in the pre-production process for a large server project, and we need more like-minded individuals to help shore up our core competencies.

The Project: We've consciously avoided talking about project specifics in the past, as we're looking for capable individuals that are interested in making the project come to life, not just playing on the server in the future. However, I'll give a short description here. We have a project proposal that goes into greater detail, but that will be saved for later in the interview process.

Large massively-multiplayer PVP-focused server with conquest/strategy and a focus on enabling a player-driven experience. Will include some RPG elements (without being an RPG!) such as exploration and player/group progression. Focus is on conquest and economy, with the goal being to avoid scope creep. Most plugins will be custom, as we're not interested in being Factions/Towny Server #6,432.

Positions Needed: As we're still at a very early point in design and development, the exact structure of the team isn't fully determined. If you feel like you have something else to add to this project other than what's listed below, feel free to inquire. Note that we're not currently looking for people who primarily deal with moderation or plugin configuration.

Game Designer
Our two leads (myself and my partner) have game design experience from working in modding projects for other games, but we still need someone who can think creatively and add to our pool of experience. This person would be responsible for helping to figure out the specifics regarding core gameplay mechanics on the server, and would collaborate with our developers to ensure the vision comes to life. No formal coding or plugin experience is required, but having an understanding of what's possible in Minecraft is important.

Please note that this isn't just an "idea guy" position. You will need to keep in mind what makes a successful game and work with those concepts extensively. If you're looking to fill this position, please be prepared to explain to us exactly what makes you confident in calling yourself a game designer.

Plugin Developer
We currently have one developer on the team, but we'll definitely need more than one. Experience with Java and the Spigot API is a must, as well as examples of previous plugin/development work. This is a very important role, and you will work closely with the designers and leads to ensure that the plugin needs of the server are met. A few other members of the team have limited development experience, so you'll have the necessary support if needed for minor tasks.

Project Manager - NOTE: This position is now filled, but exceptional candidates will still be considered.

Our two leads (myself and my partner) are able to fill the role of project manager for now, but in the long-term we're looking for someone who can liaise with the team and ensure things are running properly and on-schedule. Team management experience is a must, and you should be able to provide examples of other projects you've managed or servers you've run. In the long run, we're looking out for what's best for the project. This means that while we don't have a strict need for a project manager currently, we're always looking for people that are better-equipped than us to fill this role. This would be a very involved role, so exceptional candidates only.

Mapping/Building Lead
Our project will include a pre-made map with many unique locations. This role is perfect for a creative type with strong visualization skills. Your job would be to work with the designers and writers to plan a map that has strong themes and lore, while still taking gameplay considerations into account. You wouldn't necessarily need to do any building yourself, but a strong building background and experience is important. Eventually, a team of builders will be needed, and this position would also involve recruiting/training/leading this team. Experience with map editors and tools such as WorldPainter, VoxelSniper, World Edit, etc. is a plus.

I'd also like to pre-emptively answer the question about compensation by saying that we're not currently looking for contractors at this time. We're in the very early stages, so we're looking for passionate people who are willing to volunteer their time for the purpose of seeing this project succeed. We know how much it sucks to devote your time to something only to see it fail or go nowhere, which is why we're committed to being professional and seeing concrete results. That's not to say we're against compensating our team members later on down the line, however. The best interests of the project come first, and happy team members is one of our priorities.

The Project Manager position is now filled. We're still looking for game designers, developers, and build leads/world builders. As before, all candidates will be considered. The most important thing is to have an idea of what your role would be in the project.
