Hello,

My name is Sam, and I am looking into starting up a website which teaches you how to configure minecraft plugins.

The Idea And Why I Want To Start This

The idea came to me from a good friend who has been interested in learning to configure plugins for a while, but wasn't able to find the resources to help him learn to config. So I thought to myself "Why not create a website which teaches you how to configure a plugin from start to finish?" I once was someone who was looking for help on configuration, but was unable to find any so I had to self teach myself and I know how hard that can be. I want to be able to help others out there who are going through the same struggle I did, by giving them step by step guides and a real time learning environment where they will edit a config and watch it change in game.

Will This Cost Users Money?

The short answer is no, users will be able to sign up and learn to configure plugins for free. However, I do plan on adding a separate plan where users pay let's say $5 a month and it teaches you how to develop a plugin, and gives you access to some of my own plugins, and pre-made configurations.

I am in the works of developing the website, and some of the lessons are already completed so I will start releasing a beta site soon!

Please let me know your thoughts about this idea, and if you would be interested in it!
Sam.

Its a good idea in principle but because each plugin is so different it would be difficult to execute properly. You have plugins that have JSON configs, yml configs. You have plugins that have different DB types, Mysql Mongo etc. You have Sponge, Spigot and Bungee plugins. It would have to be either specific to the most popular plugins such as Essentials, Luckperms and all the cores (Skyblock, prisons, factions etc) or be very broad in what you say. I would interested to see how you do it, best of luck!

I'm late to this, but I still wanted to say that this is an awesome idea in my opinion, I don't know anything about developing, but I always tried to learn, or to find good resources, if it is well-made, and easy to follow, I think there's a huge potential there!

I think it's a good idea but like Surplexed said above it would be difficult with all the different configs out there. You could teach configuration broadly, like showing how many plugins do messages, showing what placeholders are, etc. You could also show popular plugins with configs for some of them (ex. tab, essentials, etc). Could explain how plugins store data (Storing in a YML file, MySQL, Mongo, etc) Show plugin errors and teach how to somewhat understand them. If you really want to get far into it, you could explain what bungeecord is and the difference between bungeecord and spigot plugins.
