Hey, everyone. I want to start delving into the world of java and developing both plug-ins for MC and general applications. I was wondering, does anyone here have any good resources they're willing to share that'll help me learn? I've completed the course on CodeAcademy and looked up tutorials on YouTube (though a lot of them are old), and need some new resources to learn from.

Thanks a lot!

The youtubers may help you get a good grasp of the concepts of Plugin Development, but you won't "gain" anything from just learning the API. You should focus mostly on learning Java itself, you can still do this while programming plugins of course. If you can, buy a book, or find a tutor online who's reputable, perhaps some of the good fellows here on MC-Market? Ammar T comes to mind.

If you can't, for whatever reason, just follow the official Java tutorials from Oracle, or find a series online that's also reputable.

Knowledge is knowledge, whether you pay for it or not. Just be sure you're soaking up the correct information.

Thanks a lot for the advice. :) Unfortunately, I'm broke so I'd have to find free resources (for now, at least). I definitely see what you mean with learning Java itself before moving onto plugin development - this is something I'm looking into.

Finding free resources isn't hard at all. I learned it myself, for free. Just try things out. If you don't know a certain thing, google it. Thats what Google is after all made for, isn't it?

EDIT: Don't worry, I read that you're "broke".

Don't start making plugins actually learn the language before using an API.

" I've completed the course on CodeAcademy" I assumed he has learnt a bit of java therefore he can start. I didnt learn the whole of java before I started bukkit.

You should be able to pass the first Java certification exam before starting Bukkit in my opinion.

John Purcell has a comprehensive course on Java programming, and I followed this through 3 times.
