Interested in learning a new skill, have time to dedicate, and I am motivated. I was just curious as to what some of you guys think is good to learn? I have tried css and html, and it is just not my style. Also where to learn it would be appreciated. :)

Would recommend c++ as a good start point! My personal opinion, I wouldn't attempt Java until you've learnt c++. However, that is just my personal opinion, I know plenty of Developers whom started with Java.

I started with Python, and it is really good to understand how programming languages work. Just get some basic Python knowledge then move on to c++ or any other language you want to use for a future project. JS or PHP is good if you intend to make a website, but since you don't quite like HTML and CSS I'd probably try c++ or Java or something

Depends what area of code you want to learn.

If you're not looking for a specific area, I would 100% learn Python. It's by far the the best first language to learn and gives you a really sound base for learning more languages.

If you're looking to get into web-development HTML and CSS are for you, they're relatively easy but are sometimes difficult. Your original post says you've tried HTML and CSS but maybe you didn't use a good platform? I learnt through trial and error but you can always use something such as codecademy.com - it's very good at what it does.

If you're looking for specific server-development I'd go with Python to begin with and then move onto something like C# or Java. Both are very similar in syntax so once you know one it is fairly easy to learn the other.

I'd leave C++ until last. Whilst people say C# and C++ are similar they have some major differences that can make it harder for a new programmer to learn, the biggest I believe to be memory management. C# has a garbage collector that sorts that out for you, whereas C++ is manual.

Hope I've been some help.

Udemy is an amazing website for learning how to code. Codecademy is brilliant if you're better at learning by doing the skill rather than studying it.

Hope I helped!

You can try Java, or Php but that is a tad harder but also more interesting. Html and Css however is actually pretty easy and a good skill to pick on. You'll learn it fast if you try to make a web-page.

I started with Python and then moved to HTML and CSS. Then PHP and SQL, which are by far my favourite.

Thank you to everyone who has given me some advice. After reading over a majority of the comments, and a little searching myself I have decided that I will start with python to get the basics down then move to either C#, or C++. I will decide based on some more in-depth searching after I feel accomplished in python. Once again thank you all for offering your advice.

That is actually a great idea - the only hard part is getting the dedication to learn and go through all of that! If you truly want to become a good developer then my advice is never quit and always spend time trying your hardest to accomplish your goals. No dedication = no accomplishment

C#, Java or Javascript. Javascript is easy as a first language, and very popular thanks to NodeJS[DOUBLEPOST=1546867222][/DOUBLEPOST]
You can't learn HTML in 15 minutes, you need expercise.
CSS can be learned in about 1-2 month depends how much are you doing it.
Html isn't really that hard, it's like a coloring book. An 8 year old could understand it easily.

honestly start with HTML, you can make it on a simple notepad file
the other languages are more complicated and require other programs
java is outdated and dead so dont bother with it
