I love how people don't actually read a post in its entirety.

I find that Vanilla servers can get pretty boring pretty quickly without things to do. In my opinion, I prefer modded servers with packs such as FTB Infinity and others like it. I've run a few whitelisted servers in the past with different packs on it and we ensured to make it a community thing. When people go off on their own and everything is separated, then it tends to get boring more quickly. On the servers that I ran, we did everything as a community. We built, relatively, close together. Those who wanted to, built a sort of town. Stealing items was NOT allowed except for purge hours. Purge hours were every weekend for 1-2 hours and you were able to take things from players as long as you didn't take all of what they had / you were only able to take things from members participating in that week's purge. The person with the best kill / death ratio at the end of it, would get a prize. We also had prank wars where, as long as you didn't destroy another player's base, you were able to pull pranks on others. Example being, with the mod Archimedes' Ships, I turned a player's house into a ship and flew it 100m away.

Bosses That spawn in after every 1000 blocks mined
Random Attacks, Such as lightning, teleported __ blocks away.
Zombies That are day round that can build up to you, even destroy! with different blocks taking longer.
A server where every ten minuted the gamemode of every single player is swapped. And when you join 25% of players spawn with with gmc.
Or best one yet.
Every night. 85% percent of all the players items are deleted. everything in chests.. echests... inv.. ect! GL
