Let people make their profiles private again.

I suggested this a while ago and I had it locked/it was denied (I don't remember).

I'm posting this suggestion in direct reference to Justis' point that people have a right to privacy. I recall when the opposite was being argued by the same people.

People can make things private without making it so others can’t view their profile.

They just need to go in the settings and make it so either only those they follow can view it or no one at all.

It’s a marketplace, what type of privacy does someone need when it comes to making it so people cannot come on their profile? If they wanted certain stuff hidden, they can do it without it showing “Error” when you try to view their profile.

I have caught people alting or evading simply by looking at their profile because they had matching info.

It was something staff didn’t see simply because they cannot monitor every single user while also moderating the forums.

At that same time, Justis argued on your suggestion thread that disabled accounts should be private. How is this much different? I mean, don't get me wrong - I know where you're coming from. But if we're going to have private disabled accounts, why not make it consistent?

If you would like your profile to be private, the only way to do this is through disabling your account. We are a marketplace forum, and being able to see peoples profiles is ridiculously important when doing deals with them so that you can see reputation/who they are/whether you should deal with them or not.

The only way to make your profile hidden is through disabling your account, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
