Let's talk about Gun Control!

Do you support the 2nd Amendment (The right to bear arms) in 2019?

The USA is the only country in the world that has this problem. Yes, other coutries have terrorism, but it's by outside extremist groups, not by the country's own people.

This is completely false, in terms of mass shootings the United States actually ranks 66th in the world.

Citing global mass shootings. If you take any their world or developing country out of the statistic it's USA at #1.[DOUBLEPOST=1564983502][/DOUBLEPOST]

Also per capita. That's no way a proper comparison.

Not really a reliable source as it contained no statistics and was full of ads.
Also, what is your definition of "mass shooting"?
It literally gives a link to the original study done by the crime research prevention center.

Trick question because there is no globally recognized definition of mass shooting.

I believe america needs guns.

My main reason is for our countries security. could you even FATHOM a army trying to occupy a city, or area in general? It's goddamn impossible. the sheer amount of good minded people with firearms is over whelming. When some foreign army comes on our land, ever father and sons dreams of shooting national enemies is completed. You CANNOT occupy a US city. It's impossible without bombing or weapons that do a massive area of effect to humans.

I can understand the fact that most people want to lower mass shootings, but controlling legally traded guns isnt going to work. We dont need more background checks, we need to stop people from illegally selling guns. The people that buy guns legally then resell should be punished. People should be limited to buying a specific amount of guns every few years. (Unless they go through extensive background checks and tests to prove mental stability etc) Regardless our country needs its guns

...if they take away our guns the people will be able to get guns illegally...

Why do we start with the assumption that gun control is good?

..get all the guns out of citizens hands...

The liberal push for gun control is not about a gun ban, no one that is involved, even in the slightest bit in American politics thinks that. It's about taking steps to prevent people with bad intentions or mental illness from obtaining a firearm.

It is as if everyone had forgotten that this excuse to push a political ideology came at the cost of lives. This desensitization as a result of frequency is absolutely sickening.

This is an interesting perception of it, you're putting a spin on reality to make it seem like this cry for gun control is purely for political gain. I agree it is shameful that these events must be used to push for change when in reality guns and their usage in the United States should be a bipartisan issue. But after 150+ mass shootings warranting less political response than a rapper in hot water, people have become desensitized, and seem to disregard the tragedy within a matter of days. So why offer a half-hearted, self-absorbed acknowledgement when you can truly do something about it?

Here is a quick analogy that opposes your point. Families lock their doors after a crime is committed in their neighbourhood. They don't prioritize sympathy. Mothers and fathers are concerned about the lives of their children, their children that go to school every day in a reality where they might not come home.

When you act like your being considerate posting this, you're causing more pain and grief than you could ever fathom. Stop acting like you care if you simply aren't willing to take small steps to see a great change.
Bill HR 8 is currently at a standstill in Congress, which makes the transfer of guns between two persons illegal unless done through a gun store. This has fees but these are the small step I'm referring to that you need to take in order to slow down gun violence. Life>Money

Firearms are a part of our society. An all out ban or regulation won't solve our problem. Not going to argue with anyone over this, it's just the truth. The problem is with the people who misuse guns, we can't blame tools for being tools. Witch hunting inanimate objects is just psychotic and is pointless.

Can you direct me to where you got the notion that anyone was pushing for a gun ban?

In my opinion, all guns, even for recreation should be made illegal and all citizens that own one should be forced to turn them in. The only people that should carry them should be police officers and military.
I simply read the post.

I think at the end of the day, even with a mental illness; everyone can wake up one morning with either not enough sleep, or not enough of something, and they can make bad decisions. Nothing restricts us from our free will. We are selfish human beings, and we want love. When we don't get that love, we feel the need to treat other people without love because we want them to feel how we feel when we aren't having the best time. Anyone can have an episode. Putting a regulation on "stricter" and "tighter" policies on people with "mental disorders" may resolve some things, but people are still built like this, disorder or not, we all act up. We still have free will. Malicious people will always exist. Love is the only immediate solution, and even love can't fully stop people from being bad. My whole message is if you treat people with love and respect when they don't deserve it, that's the chance for them to experience that love they desired and feel something that they never fully had. That's what stops malicious intent.
