I don't understand why you darkthemers look at your computer screens in the dark... it hurts your eyes so bad regardless of themes. How do you browse the Internet without dark theme??

It's meant to be used
Dark theme? I’m not inside all the times and frequently I’m outside where it’s extremely sunny so it’s extremely easy on my eyes to look at light theme. Dark theme is easier to view in the night and when it’s dark similar to how light theme is easier to view when it’s bright and in the day

Dark theme is cool. Light theme is cool. Both serves their own purpose.

I would always prefer using dark theme than white, but dark theme can not be an absolute, especially when it goes to "forums". Lighter forum themes are usually not only more user friendly, but more representative and easier on the eyes. That is why you will see most of blog, news, other media and social sites in lighter theme than dark.

If you take for example Youtube dark theme (which i use), its more in place and sticks much better than the light one. It does make that effect of "highlighting" necessary things like names of the videos, desc and comments which are easier to pinpoint and read. Where at a forum, everything seems to be highlighted which makes is a bit harder on the eyes and in the same time smaller texts and info are lost in that effect and are harder to navigate to, which usually doesn't make it a good feature to have for a forum.

I've tried using it few times but i can. Not only that i can't seem to get use to it but it is really not well made. Many of the smaller texts and informational stuff is totally lost. If the palette was better balanced and the contrast between main texts and smaller texts/tags and other info sub texts were done in a way that its not taxing on the eyes then maybe we would had something better.
