Lightweight permissions plugin?

I'm not paying anybody for this, I understand it is the marketplace although there is no other section to ask for help on plugins. Maybe the shoutbox although it isn't open for blacks

Hello.
I'm making a VERY lightweight hardcore server, that is going to hopefully be consuming most of my time.
I've been working on a custom terrain warzone for 3 days & more, but besides the point
Is there any good plugin to configure permissions? As I said, lightweight, just want colored names & no [VIP] before peoples names.
So if you have anything for me, then please leave it in a reply,
no Essentials plugins please.

You need to install essentials for essentialschat to work

There is no actually plugin folder for that just the .jar as there is nothing to edit in the essentials chat. That just allows colors etc.

So I can place essentials chat in the root of my server?
& also pointing back to what the other guy said on page 2,
do I need the core essentials plugin?

Never put plugins in the root of the server.

Not that I know of, perhaps you can get someone to code you a plugin that will do name and chat colors and it wont need pex to work. Other than that no, you cannot disable them. (From what I know)
