then the songs you listen to probably don't have bass as a major component. Some metal types and a lot of Epic music (like stuff by Two Steps From Hell) would actually blow your mind nearly literally with a bass boost.

of course, if you don't have proper audio playing equipment, you won't notice it nearly as much
