Lock profile post comments/mute profile comment thread

Would be nice if we could lock posts we make on other peoples' profiles (perhaps with the exception to the user whose profile you're posting on).

That way, you can have a public, but direct method of contact with that person, which nobody else can get their fingers into.

Would avoid a messy notifications that may not be wanted after lots of people join in a profile discussion you did not expect.

Where people won't stop replying because they want to enrage other members with their alerts.

An alternative to this would be the ability to mute a profile post. Sort of like /alertsoff on Skype.

Per post. Allow people to lock/mute the replies. Not global like the current preference.

It's not a mess - it's a discussion. Sorry if you can't understand that. I'm not sure what's wrong with two alerts.

What annoys me the most is the ignorance, and plain disregard. If you had taken 2 seconds. 2 SECONDS, to look around.

You can disable them.

I don't want it global. I never asked for global. I asked for a solution per post. Try being less ignorant and actually reading my post.

Delete the profile post or use pm.

This is the kind of thing that will be used for more evil then good.
Example: Posting flame comments or incorrect statements on a inactive user and locking it. This way, noone can correct it or call it out outside reporting, and we all know how fast that is *coughcough*

That's not an example. He gave me a global solution - which is not what this suggestion is. My suggestion is per-post. Meaning I could either lock OR mute (one or the other, based on what BeBosny/the community would prefer) without silencing all profile posts I've ever made. Some of them I actually want notifications for.

And my example against it also concerns per-post.

I'm completely against locking PER-POST, has it can be abused. If you dont want notifications, use the global solution or delete the posts that are spamming you.
Mute could be ok.
