Hello,

Sometimes people revive very old threads which gets very annoying because some people actually take the time to contact people on that thread etc. So If you can make it so it automatically locks the thread after a certain period of time. Even if it doesn't lock it, atleast make it not eligible for responses.

EDIT: I meant threads that have been inactive for 3 months plus, for example, no replies, no likes, no reactions, etc.

Kind Regards, Introduction.

sometimes those threads are still relevant. There is already a warning for necroposting (reviving a thread you dont own that was dead for more than a month), no need to enforce this in addition. Most people necropost once, after which they watch out more carefully.

Bruh, locking them just means not letting other people post on them. Not deleting them
I know, bro. I've been on this site for 2 years instead of 1 month. Sometimes thread owners want to bump their old threads after considerably more than 3 months. which is allowed, bumping your own thread no matter how dead it is.

Why waste precious staff time on it? If we can automate the process, isn't that better?[DOUBLEPOST=1503483456][/DOUBLEPOST]

They can always make a new thread, If it is 3+ months old, They will not get warned for duplicate posting either. Would you rather use up the persons time or precious staff time?[DOUBLEPOST=1503483540][/DOUBLEPOST]
What about threads that are offering services(and continue to today) for more than three months? People might want to share thoughts on the thread three months later?

For this I'll have to disagree.
I meant to say threads that have been inactive for 3+ months, there is no way a thread will not get even one reply, even from the owner after 3 months, If it doesn't, it is practically useless since no one will see it anyways.

What if people leave for a while knowing they will come back, say for exams or summer or whatever - it happens

Then they'll lose all the views, vouches and reactions on the thread.

Staff's precious time? I've been staff myself, and I know exactly how much of a problem necroposting is. Nada.
For all the reports I've seen in the 3-4 months I was actively doing them, maybe 1 in 50 was necroposting.
And it was rarely more than once per thread. Locking all old threads prematurely would be more work.

One of my threads is almost a year old and I still make money out of what I'm selling.

Also, forcing people to make a new thread would mean that they lose all the reactions and responses, meaning that people reviewing that specific service in the thread itself would be negated. We do have reputation now, but if you offer more than 1 service reputation it will get confusing fast.

I never knew you loose views, vouches, and reactions for locking a thread, That is why I said make the thread not open for further responses until the owner can message one of the staff or something.

No you suggested just making a new thread, this was in response to that.

Its not on the locking of a thread, it's on having to make a new one. The total count is far less relevant than the responses and stats on the thread itself

Threads are already automatically locked after 6 months with no activity (replies).
Did not know that, sorry, Lock the suggestion.
