My friend purchased a macbook for cash off of ebay, approximately five years ago. Today, he finds out that his macbook has been locked, and this is the message:

that's basically like icloud activation lock on an iphone
You can't get around that to my knowledge
He'll have to contact the buyer, but they probably stole it

Login to the Apple ID linked to the Mac at https://www.icloud.com/find
If you don't have control of the Apple ID linked to the Mac and that the seller has access, contact them.
