Hi, I'm a developer myself. I'm currently building a rich yet unnamed MMORPG focused on class progression, specialization and gear-driven build crafting similar to games like Path of Exile, Hypixel Skyblock or even Wynncraft. This is a very long-term, systems-heavy project; nowhere near being a minigame network or a quick content server. The goal is to build a Vanilla-based MMO with a strong architecture and room for expansion if necessary.

Overview
  • All servers will be built on PaperMC
  • All plugins will be written with Java
  • Game Content will be built on a scriptable content later (likely using modern ECMAScript or anything of the likes..)
What I'm Looking For
I'm looking for secondary Java developer(s) who at least have some decent experience with Paper, cares decently about having a clean architecture and keeping things maintainable, and are comfortable building interconnected systems and scalable content.

You have bonus points if you have experience with Velocity, embedding, or more.

This project is very system-driven. From a combat engine, skill execution, class logic, resource systems, instancing, etc., -- everything needs to interlock cleanly.

Compensation & Expectations
As this is something I'm pouring my own time into as a developer as well, this is currently an unpaid passion project.

I'm investing significant time and effort into building this properly. If the project becomes sustainable or generates revenue, then I'm more than happy to revenue share with core contributors based on their involvement and impact. I'm looking for people who want to build something ambitious and technically interesting.

Commitment level can of course be flexible, but consistency greatly matters.

Current State
I have written a GDD, outlined most; if not all of the core systems, and determined where I want the architecture to go. I am also actively working on the bare-infrastructure, trying to get something working on a scriptable ecosystem.

If you're interested, feel free to contact me over discord.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

how do you feel about open-sourcing this project?
It's not something I'm inherently opposed to, but I do think it's better off as proprietary software for it's beginning.
However, I do think making it OSS is better in the long run because it'd make it easier to find contributors, even if I'd prefer for such software to be only ran by one server.
