Pasted from my reddit post:
Hiya guys, I've been out of the loop on what's the best of the best for a while now, and I was wondering about the comparisons between a few products. Firstly, I currently have an ASUS VG248QE as my primary and only monitor, but I'm finding the screen real estate to be too little for work, I don't game much anymore but the 144hz has absolutely spoiled me, which causes me to be torn between what additional monitor I should invest in. I've boiled it down between these two 1440p 144hz monitors, the BenQ XL2730Z[1] , and the ASUS PG278Q[2] . They both seem like really solid monitors, but I'm not sure of the advantages between the two brands, if there is any. I'm glad to take any suggestions for any different monitors, but I really am not willing to go for anything under 120hz.

Since I'll be adding an extra monitor, I'm also interested in a new GPU, upgrading from a GTX 660. I've been eyeballing this ASUS 980TI[3] , but I would like to verify that this would be one of the better buys in this price range.

I will not be doing any dual monitor gaming of the sort, maybe the occasional single monitor 1440p gaming @ 120hz+, but mainly for work/regular usage.

Thanks for any suggestions/input. :)

If screen real-estate is what you want, go 4K.
If you have the money, the 980 Ti is top card right now, and will be able to play pretty much all games @ 4K at minimum 30 FPS (some well above 60).

So now you ask, "4K monitor, 144Hz refresh rate?"
Asus ROG Swift.
