It's all good saying it's "salted & hashed with a powerful algorithm" but would you be willing to provide what's it's salted and hashed with? the algorithm type and complexity? can you give us an example.

Don't think i'm trying to "attack" you, apologies if it comes off that way. Otherwise, looks pretty cool.

Thanks! And It uses Sha256 with a 64 character salt, so if the data was somehow leaked it would take a long time to crack. Working on upgrading security as well.

If you ever need penetration testing let me know. Thanks for the fast response. Can confirm for anyone wondering how secure the hash & salt is that if he is actually using Sha256 with a 64 character salt even brute forcing would take a long, long time though it may depend on the complexity of the password as to bruting times.

Thank you for your expertise!

what stops you from taking the paypal API key and then just.. using it for whatever you want?

That is also hashed and salted, however, I have my own API key, I wouldn't need any others.

I'm almost positive you could send money with the API key that's given to you, and we also don't have any proof you're actually hashing/salting it as you say you are. additionally, even if you were, you would still know the hash and salt as you're the one that set it

That is a valid point. I use a Sha256 hash with salt mostly to prevent data leaks. I never get the plaintext in backend.

From what I found here it looks like I would need more than an API key to send money. Correct me if I am wrong :)

EDIT: Yes, you need an account PIN preapproved by paypal.
