Hi, I'm running a Paper 1.16.4 server. Some people on my server have been getting some strange errors that I've never seen before:

#1. io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: badly compressed packet size of 43 is below server threshold of 512

#2. io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: java.util.zip.DataFormatException: incorrect header check

There has been nothing changed on my server except the Java version, which was updated version 8 to 11. I asked around on the PaperMC Discord and solutions were inconclusive. I tried removing some plugins, but I have 70 of them and the kicks happen spontaneously over a period of time, making it hard to identify what's causing the issue.

If you know something about this, please leave a reply

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.
