Ajdin, you said there were a few good reasons, but didn't elaborate at all. So, what are the few reasons? And would you mind updating us on what's going on with the ratings? It's not just recounting them, it's removing ratings. I looked through my alerts and a lot of my post that were given a rating by other people, are now missing the ratings.

*edit - disregard, I guess. They magically just now reappeared???

Might've been recounting ratings from removed posts.

The post are still there. The rating has literally been taken away.[DOUBLEPOST=1452199253,1452199165][/DOUBLEPOST]Now they are magically back. How convenient. Whatever. Disregard.

How ratings work:

So the forum has been collecting ratings ever since the addon was added. They all get added to 2 locations, 1. A location in the database where all the ratings are stored next to the posts. 2. A "cache" location so the forum doesn't need to count all ratings every time it needs it (for example when someones opening your profile).

So what this does. All ratings gets removed from the cache. It just gets cleared completely. So the forum cannot read any ratings from the cache since it's empty. As soon as the cache was cleared, Xenforo started going through all posts and re-inserting them into the cache 1 by 1. As we have a lot of posts this took a few hours.

How did posts get removed/added?
Well, sometimes this cache system doesn't count things properly. Another reason you could have less posts is because threads/posts got removed. Another reason this could be is because I also removed all given ratings from users like Skill, Jurhead etc.

Don't get pissed at me because "omg bosny removed ratings". It's just the true number there. Some people were affected, others weren't.

Sorry, I hold you with a skeptic eye, because of my own personal feelings and beliefs of how you do things.
Hopefully, over time you can prove to me that I have you misidentified, but I'm not holding my breath.

However, thank you for the explanation on ratings.[DOUBLEPOST=1452201977,1452201757][/DOUBLEPOST]In hindsight, I disagree that rating total should be affected by threads being removed. You still made a contribution that merited your peers to agree. Just because the thread was deleted, it doesn't change that fact at all.

I either gained one rating or stayed the same, I don't remember where I was last night.

So basically people can lose or gain ratings. For those who lost ratings it's an oh well?

What is the point of removing cache of ratings? Isn't cache designed to improve speed?

I cleared the cache, not removed. Yes, it's basically there holding your rating counts instead of letting the server recount it every time it needs to be displayed.
