Yes I understand this is to prevent people from + or - repping people and making the review "." but 100 characters is a bit of a stretch.

I'm frankly a pretty lazy person. When somebody asks me to rep them after buying $25 worth of BTC (example that literally just happened) what am I supposed to say besides "User bought my BTC?" Yeah it only takes a couple extra seconds to add some extra pointless words, but if I can say the user is legit in 15 characters, why do I need to add an another 85?

Thanks for your time, flame me in the comments about why this is a bad suggestion and I'll edit the thread to address your point (if it's a good one).

Edit: this is going to end up promoting just as much LQ things like people spamming "100char" until the rep is long enough.

"Vouch bought my BTC" isn't even valid to begin with.

Perhaps a better suggestion is to change the character limit on seller reputation for their clients? In my honest opinion, sellers shouldn't really be leaving reputation on their clients unless they've had a negative experience with that user as more often than not, the positive reputation is not indicative of their client's own services and products.

Explain to me more why this is invalid since I might be missing something.

I do see where you're coming from in the second part, but reputation is just as important for a buyer as it is for a seller, since a decent amount of sellers decide whether or not to deal with somebody based off of their client's rep from other sellers. Another idea would be to have two separate categories of reputation, one from sellers and one from buyers.

It's invalid because simply saying "Vouch. Bought my BTC" is not indicative about that client what-so-ever. It's a generic statement that can be applied to anyone on the market. Reputation is meant for more specific purposes and is better appreciated and utilized when it's given by clients - not sellers.

Think of it this way. Say a client goes to a restaurant and orders some food: say some spaghetti and meatballs. The client then turns to Google and leaves a great review, saying that it was delicious. Say that client owns a hardware store. You don't see the restaurant leave a review on that hardware store saying "Vouch, owner ate at my restaurant".

In any case that's why I don't believe in seller reputation on the client unless it's a negative experience (which of course should be known about for other sellers). Simply saying "Vouch" followed by a generic statement does not imply anything special, memorable, or positive-reputation worthy about that user other than the fact that they bought your service.

Back to the original purpose of this thread, I suggest that you suggest to change the character limit of seller-based reputation on their clients as a 100 character limit seems to be a great idea as it forces the client of a particular service to leave a detailed review for other potential clients to see.

The entire purpose of the 100 character requirement is to force you to add those additional few words to your feedback you leave. If you did a deal with a user to sell them BTC then leaving just a few extra words saying that they were friendly and professional or that they were understanding of delays or something like that just gives our users a little bit more to go off.

Just because a deal was done, that doesn't explain anything to people who go back and look at that users reputation.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
