I am a fan of Apple, and I do have an Apple Laptop. But I don't believe that it is best in my scenario because of how much more the cost is just for specs that are similar to a lower-end laptop. You're really only buying the brand when it comes to Apple. The only time you're getting a good bang for your buck in terms of computer specs is if you invest in the latest MacBook Pro.

Sorry for not replying I got caught up with a bunch of other stuff.

Okay so I was looking at laptops and one of the laptops that has definitely been standing out to me was the HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 15z-ee000 touch. Here.
It's customized it with the following specifications;
  • AMD Ryzen™ 5 4500U (2.375 GHz, up to 4.0 GHz, 3 MB L2 cache, 6 cores) + AMD Radeon™ Graphics.
  • 16 GB DDR4-3200 SDRAM (2 x 8 G:cool:
  • 15.6" diagonal FHD, IPS, micro-edge, WLED-backlit, multitouch-enabled, edge-to-edge glass, 250 nits (1920 x 1080)
  • 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD
  • Windows 10 Home 64
- Price (including Student Discounts) $671.50
I feel that for the price and the specs, this would be really good for me since I'm pushing towards choosing one of these majors; Computer Science, Integrated Media, Communications/Web Development. The laptop has a x360 degree rotation that would allow me to re-create illustrations in a quicker manner. Thin and Slick so I can carry it around without a problem. Enough computing power and RAM to allow intermediate video renders/etc. Also RAM for baseline coding etc.

I was considering about getting a Surface Pro but I don't exactly have a whole lot of money saved up. So a lot of my supplies would come directly from loans. I have a 17" MacBook 2011, and the specs on it are amazing just I don't really like that Macbooks have that "lift" on them as it hurts my wrists for them to lay up onto the laptop.

If you guys have any recommendations for laptops that have touch-screen functionality and are lower than $1300~ then please let me know. Also I don't really care for intel because it's garbage, but I'd like something that'll last too.
only 256gb will not last you long[DOUBLEPOST=1595775201][/DOUBLEPOST]

I don't own an apple laptop, but from what I hear commonly it is pretty high performing though

Surface is touchscreen so you can probably take notes on it for college.

Laptop came today and I am very very pleased with the Ryzen 5 4500U + 16GB DDR4 RAM. Only thing I need is either Cloud Storage or purchasing a physical external hard drive.

There's a service on the forum that allows you to get unlimited Cloud Storage for like 5$. Have had it for a while dedicated for a video archive (spent about 5 terrabytes on it so far).

Okay fine about $15 lol

I'll probably end up getting a smaller USB-C drive for gigabyte file transfer speeds and use that for current integrated projects. My high-school gave me Unlimited Space on my school google drive. However I just lost that recently so I've sourced to thumb-drives. I don't really want to carry around thumb-drives with me. I've considered cloud storage, I just hope that what I get on that thread is reliable. Thanks for the link!

I've had the service in the link for about a year now and have to say it's pretty reliable. Haven't had any problems with Samuel whatsoever and the purchase was quick and automated with no problems.

Hope it works out :)

I know there's more reliability with using a service here; However I checked out ebay and saw the same service for $0.99. I don't know as if there was warranty on it, nor would reliability be there unless it was backed by purchases and reviews. Should I spend x10 the amount here and be backed by Samuel, or rando off ebay.

My friend owns a 2nd Generation Surface pro and I own a Macbook and I can honestly say that the surface is better for coding and more of a development mindset whereas the MacBook is better for writing long documents and creative work such as photoshop. So it all comes down to what you are actually going to be using it for.

I would go for Surface Pro in this case considering MacBooks aren't very powerful when you use big files on Photoshop or edit graphic effects in AE.
