Heya everyone!
Lately I've been thinking about buying a MacBook Pro 2018 Touchbar, for about $2100. I'm not sure whether or not it is worth it though, since I don't have the biggest budget. My main uses would be school stuff (university), design, development, and just watching videos/movies. Do you guys think it'd be worth purchasing? If not, please specify a reason, and suggestions for alternatives are always welcome.

Thanks for reading,
Jurre

You won’t get very unbiased responses, especially in a community of teens who think they know it all.

If someone asked you whether you wanted that MacBook or another laptop that you’re maybe looking at, but told you, that you had to make an instant choice..which would you choose?

I got myself a MBpro over black Friday and honestly, it's one of the better buys I've made. If you have the funds available, I'd definitely recommend it.

I would say yes considering how long it will hold up, I currently use an early 2014 air and it still runs amazing.

buy a surface book 2 instead, thank me later[DOUBLEPOST=1548977103][/DOUBLEPOST]
knowing it can only have 4gb of ram, no it doesn't hold up.
Ram isn't an issue for anything in the Apple Ecosystem

If you go for either a mac or a surface pro you're fine. I have a 2014 Macbook Air as well just like you

yeah, but a windows laptop of the same price could probably still play AAA games at low settings, while a macbook air can't (source: I have one as well)
Games aren't usually the thing you think of when you bring up a Macbook, either way I think he's fine as he'll get most likely an Intel UHD620 integrated or one with a Vega in it which should handle games low

all the work the macbook can do, a windows laptop can do, so when the macbook's worse in specs for the same price, why choose it ? (unless you need mac specific apps like final cut)
Probs the apple ecosystem, the OS, and the trackpad which is hard to replicate

I have one and it’s amazing. Be warned that there are keyboard issues with the latest one, and it’s currently not on the keyboard replacement program, so once warranty runs out expect to pay as high as £600 if you don’t have apple care. That is if you have keyboard problems. Otherwise, it’s a really good machine and can handle anything even games if you bootcamp windows but to be fair, it’s not a gaming laptop. The iPhone to Mac sync is really handy if you need to send a pic of a document to your Mac. You should only buy it if you have the money and want a laptop

If you're dropping $2k on a laptop I would recommend MSI's G65 Stealth. I bought it a week ago and am utterly blown away by it.
Specs:
  • 144 Hz 7ms Monitor
  • 16 GB Dedodated WAM
  • 512GB Harddrive
  • GTX1070
  • BEAUTIFUL keyboard & responsive touchpad
  • Free copy of Black Ops 4
  • Under 5 lbs

Very powerful but I don't think it fits his needs as he's not using it directly for gaming
