Mad former owner

I've got a mad former owner that is threatening, to what I'm guessing ddos my sotw.

What's the best way to protect myself against this. should I just pay him off?

If someone is blackmailing you saying they will DDoS you. Paying them off is never a good idea. Since they can just keep coming back and making the same threat when they need some more money.

I know, but I dont know much about ddosing and have no idea how to stop him

For your server, if you're using an MC host with decent DDoS protection, you will be fine. Check your hosts website or send them a support ticket asking how much DDoS protection they provide. If its more than 20Gbps (Which most are), you will more than likely be just fine.

For your own internet, using a VPN for a while is a good measure just incase he does somehow does get your IP. He will get the VPN providers IP instead. If he already has your IP. Switching your router off for 5 mins, then switching it on again should mean you're ISP will have allocated you a different IP address.

its a 90% chance that they won't do much but send a few packets to the server, they're most likely around 10 and think they're cool they can run ping <ip> in command prompt

Yes and no. If he has started making DDoS threats, then it usually means he isn't capable of doing much more than using a cheap online booter to overwhelm and unprotected network to take it down for a short while. However if someone is mad at you enough and doesn't really have much of a life, they can do things like try to find your personal info online, join your server with alts etc.

If your budget is absolutely huge then buy ProxyPipe ($100 or $160/m) and you will be completely protected

He has already released my personal info, so nothing more he could do there basicly
