I forgot to mention I have a xenforo website set up on my dedicated server and when someone signs up they are supposed to get a confirmation email but the email never gets sent. I was told by DarkKnight to get a mailing server setup.

What domain (Gmail?) are you trying to email?
Xenforo should try to email through PHPMail or SMTP, which in case will, atleast in my experience require you to have the right Mail server settings on your domains records.

But you're still sending mail through that server, so, either way, if you're sending to an hotmail account, you may get blocked due to your servers reputation.
