death threats are empty threats, if we look at this realistically what is anyone here, who are 90% kids going to do over the internet. just testosterone filled idiots who want to puff out their chests to make themselves feel better.
Now if they go as far as to dox you and harass you or post out sensitive information like your name and address etc that is a federal felony (i think in the US) and the police will take care of it. but shy of that i rarely care what people say over the internet as they are nothing to me but internet people.

Considering the number of jokers on here, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to do this much instantly, but I do agree we should have a separate warning for it, preferably one that would take you straight to the first suspension if you start off with 0 warning points.

If its against the law, i think it should be a ban.

definitely not, but that's not a proper death threat. Though I WILL hand out disrespect warnings if I someone forgets to put a Kappaface next to something like that (or otherwise make it obvious that its a joke).

I guess OP was thinking more of the "I'm going to kill you for this" style things that have little hint of a joke in them.

No you shouldn't get any warning points or a ban for this lmao obviously the person saying it isn't being sincere..

ive seen plenty of sincere death threats on here
Did you use the report button on them? If so and they haven't been removed, send me the links to the posts via private message and I'll see if it got handled correctly.

As for the suggestion, a warning? Perhaps. A ban, definitely not. We don't instant ban for many reasons, especially not for people saying "kys". If the death threat is serious and it involves doxing, it's usually a permanent ban.

Who honestly cares? Someone tells you to go kill yourself over the Internet, woopty do. It's not like that message has any actual impact on life itself.

In the future it is definitely planned to be more strict about flaming and threats made against users. I agree that genuine threats like 'go get cancer' or whatever should be punished more than it currently is and I'm happy with people saying 'kys' to be a 1-2 warning point warn.

This has been accepted. Thanks for the suggestion.
