Hi! So I had a thread title "Get rid of the starter tags on forums" get closed for no apparent reason. I've seen plenty of other threads get closed too. With no reason

It was also deleted immediately, I saw it in the recent threads posted "1 minute ago", went to click it and it was gone. It's the staff being lazy, nothing new.

I swear there was already a suggestion exactly like this.
Though I do doubt you'll be satisfied with the sort of reasons you get.
imagine stuff like "pointless thread"
Or "wasting everyone's time"
Or "why is this even here"
Ofc if a thread is closed because it breaks a rule, at least the OP should be told the reason.

If the thread is closed and no rules are being broken it shouldn't be closed in the first place.

It should, if it's in a section like suggestions but is completely pointless. Unless you want us to write down a rule for every little inconvenience.
Threads in the market and discussion sections should not be closed without them breaking a rule, I agree.
However, threads in sections like Suggestions will be closed if they're pointless suggestions that do not need to be accepted even if they were valid. Like the thread that Xbox made, effectively complaining about a 'starter' tag over profile pictures that existed for what, 5 minutes?

Suggestions are to suggest things, he was suggesting the "starter" banner be removed. It doesn't fall under the reasons you specified and did not break any rules, so shouldn't have been removed.

Maybe not the locking part, However if the thread was closed the OP should be notified with the reason of closure

Sure. As I initially said, don't complain if the reasons are as pointless as the pointless threads being closed.[DOUBLEPOST=1471708669][/DOUBLEPOST]Now I have a suggestion for you, Xbox. If you see a feature being added that you don't like, and it has not been announced, give it an hour or so before making a thread complaining about it. It's almost as annoying as staff closing threads without articulating a reason.

"Get rid of the starter tags on forums"
It was a feature that was being tested.

no apparent reason
There's a very good reason, 1 minute after you posting that thread it was no longer a feature. People who read it were just confused and didn't know what you meant.

This isn't a act of censorship. You're just overreacting.

We rarely lock/trash threads that are not against our rules unless the topic is controversial and causing flamewars or drama.

Well I feel that Ajdin has summed it up pretty well. They normally do give a good reason anyway. I'm sure you could just PM them and ask why anyway ;)
