hello all,

Today I come with the suggestion, encouraging suicide’s punishment should be more harsher.

Now suicide, it’s a topic that comes up, particularly in teens life. 20% of teenagers have depression, this is an incredibly high number unfortunately. There’s always a few people that come to this forum to express their feelings and we have some members that are encouraging suicide, now this is absolutely disgraceful and breaks my heart.

I think that it should be some sort of ban for this, it’s honestly a disgrace. I know, this will probably get denied but this is a series topic and warning points aren’t enough.

Please raise the punishment to a more harsher one.

Thank you.

Buddy listen here, you showed us that 20% of the teenagers suffer from depression but 99% of all the people on this site commit "suicide" just for attention. And someone that really wants to kill themselves won't post it on a Minecraft Market. Let's all be honest here, I don't think anyone from this site EVER committed suicide.

What do you mean by harsher though..

More warning points?
Or like a suspension..
Suspension or warning points isn’t enough in my opinion

You don’t know whether someone is being serious or not? However it is said, should be treated as it is said

It is rare, but there has been 1 suicide I am aware of. Although, I still feel like warning points is a large enough punishment..

A ban or anything related to that is definitely too harsh.
Warning points don’t do anything at all, it’s just a number and suspensions you can read but not communicate. And they’re not perm either

Bud, someone that really wanted to kill themselves wouldn't post it on a Minecraft Market. Because only the fake ones post it on there for only 1 reason: attention.

Basically stolen this idea from 'Ghast' so could have atleast given him credit, but obviously I appreciate you putting this topic out there.

Some people have no other place to go.

I didn’t really steal it, more like took inspiration from it. I’m literally a guy that gets so annoyed about this stuff because it’s happened to a few of my friends

Uh... warning points add to suspensions..?
I mentioned about suspensions in the previous post

Since this thread was made in response to https://www.mc-market.org/threads/428128/, I would like to give my own input on the whole suicide topic

I have a better suggestion: DISALLOW SUICIDE THREADS / THE DISCUSSION OF IT

If you have the audacity to POST it on a Minecraft Market yourself (not do it, people on here have done it), than you are searching for attention. I've seen this PLENTY of times before, it isn't that hard of a concept to conceive. No one's going to commit suicide just because some random 12 year old Minecraft Kid tells them to. Suicide threads 90% of the time are spam threads by kids looking for attention, it's like catfishing homeless people.

Suicide Encouragement is not okay, but banning the discussion of Suicide in general, just like how you aren't allowed to talk about other forums, black hat methods, etc, would be the correct step.

I think one major thing people are missing here is what about people who've had close friends or family that have killed themselves? If someone you knew (like a close friend) killed themselves, then you saw someone else telling someone to kill themselves of course it'd at least bother you.

The other thing is that the people who go and tell people to "kys" are the people you don't want on a forum or really in any community anyway. Since they're the same ones typically spam and trash threads, as well as a lot of them call people "cunts", "faggots", etc for no reason besides spreading hate, and it's just generally something not wanted or needed in a community.

From a moderation standpoint, I’m up for a rework of the entire warnings system which is relevant to this suggestion. As by our own warning guidelines, we can’t follow through with such a suggestion without making larger changes elsewhere should we accept this.

Currently we can set warning points to predefined values set in our rules and adjust them accordingly should we need to stack them up with other things. However, I have broached the topic of allowing us to scale certain rules to allow different levels of severity which issue different amounts of warning points. What we follow is essentially this - https://www.mc-market.org/wiki/warnings/

This sort of ‘freedom’ is unfortunately where staff can make different judgements to the same post. Some of us may be a bit more apathetic than others. Hence to make things more uniform, we would also need to update our staff guidelines to clarify which topics should be considered taboo or not. Although that’s not always perfect.

This is mainly just an issue of logistics on our end and would need no development. But should we implement this sort of severity based warning system, we would need to rewrite a lot of things (our rules are basically an extension of our TOS which hasn’t been updated in years, that would be something else that needs to be rewritten). Something that is a bit difficult to focus on right now whilst our rule god Justis R slaves away at scam reports.

A few people have committed suicide, they just so happen to have an MC-Market account.

I think you shouldn't be able to post about these topics at all because like really you feel safe in a minecraft forum full of strangers
