Hello everyone of Mc-Market.org I am Van or Mat,

So recently I saw that Mick had put a post up in the Announcements section and Mick said that there was going to be a Mc-Market convention a bit like MineCon where you can meet up with all your favorite mincraft YouTubers from Youtube and get to know them and watch them play Minecraft live. However, with McmCon it would be a bit different where you can go and meet your favorite Mc-Market staff members or just the average Mc-Market user and just get to know them all a little better in real life instead of just speaking and meeting them over Mc-Market where they could be someone completely different to who you thought they were. For example.

I first joined Mc-Market of November 2016 and the first person I ever talked to was Drake who we all know now for the guy who exit scammed a lot of money and before that happened he seemed like such a nice person but I didn't actually know he was capable of stealing a large amount of money. I have used this as an example due to the fact that he has not only affected a few people's lives by stealing their money with his 'gambling service' but he affected others in other ways.

On a different note, McMCon is a great idea due to the fact that you could find and meet new people you may have met over the internet a long time ago, and maybe make it more than a general friendship over the 'Internet' and make it a worthwhile friendship in real life and get to know each other better.

Another reason why McMCon should go on is because in my eyes I believe it would bring the current community together as a whole and not just bring it together but it could create a long lasting friendship where Mc-Market members and staff are able to meet and greet each other whenever they feel like meeting up with each other.

Another opportunity that could come with McMCon is the chance for all the large and smaller server owners to meet up and become good friends and learn from each other.
A good reason this would be good is because it would let all the experienced owners share their experiences with the new and upcoming server owners and also would allow the following;
  • New server owners to get tips
  • Old server owners to own and help run a successful server
  • Tips on how to create a good server
  • Help each other on each other's servers
  • Help the new owners fix bugs and teach them
  • Make a new partnership
This may mean that there are more servers out there but then it would make the server owning community a lot harder but then it would make it interesting to see what new ideas and custom game modes would be released and the creativity of the community would boom quite a lot.

On the contrary for developers, it would mean a lot more work would be available and therefore for developers it could mean that the industry that they work in would most likely boom and become a marketplace within its self and would mean that there would be more skilled developers out there who can teach all the new developers out there how to get around obstacles or how to become good and talented at what they do.

But first, the McMCon would have to happen. If the McMCon the developer community would be able to come together and get to know each other. As said with the Server owners there would be an upside to the McMCon happening and that would be;
  • Skilled developers teaching the younger new developers
  • Tips on how to get better
  • Old work to use or continue working on
  • Source code and projects worked on together
  • New projects created
  • People meeting they will get to know and like
Apart from these few example, the Mc-Market would just become one big community and then it would thrive and everyone/nearly everyone will know each other and be able to talk and communicate to each other.

Overall if the Mc-Market Convention was to happen it would mean a much more stable and stronger community would be brought together and together it would grow into something much more than what it is now.

This is just my thoughts on the Mc-Market convention and I will respect what you think since that is your opinion and your opinion matters just as much anyone else in the Mc-Market community.

Regards

Mat or Van

Why can't server owners and developers get together and collaborate/share tips/ask questions here on the forums?
That's what a forum is for; bringing people together, communicating information amongst many people.

If anything, you'd get more exposure here on the forums where your questions and tips are viewable for the foreseeable future to hundreds or thousands of different people; whereas at a con, you'd get a couple dozen, maybe. And the tips they provide in person, assuming anyone who goes would want to spend their time talking about that stuff, would be no better than any they could provide over PM's here.

The ONLY thing that a con could offer off of your list of stuff, is bringing people together in person, and forming closer bonds.

If anyone wants to host a meetup, and invite people to come along, those who choose to go can always choose to go, hey, pay for my plane ticket, I'd be happy to.
However, it'll be a long time before MC-Market can reasonably consider hosting an official convention. Especially if we want to make it a decent one, the costs, as other users have said, would not be dismissable.

I see where you are coming from, but wouldn't getting an official booth at MineCon (like what SpigotMC does) be the next logical step for MCM? SpigotMC has 10x more members than MCM and doesn't even have its own convention.

Considering Mojang hates us for selling accounts as it is, I highly doubt that's happening any time soon.

Also, guys, I don't think you realize that when you rent out a convention center, you don't have to rent out the whole thing. I could settle for something much smaller; overall, the only reason I'd go would be to talk to all these wonderful Kappa people myself.

I don't think they would even allow an McM booth, considering that the entire account section is a breach of their ToS.

I agree w/ justis; a convention is pointless at this time, but an annual meetup won't hurt.
