MC Server Network! How Much???

Hey,
This is my first time on MC-Market and I thought I would ask a question that has been on my mind for a while. How much does a network cost to develop from the ground up? So I come to you, how much do you think a network would cost to build?

I would be creating a network with these game modes:
Prison, Drugcraft, Factions, HG(Custom), UHC and another custom gamemode which I have no clue what it will be...

In this I would consider

- Server (Dedicated or VPS)
- Website
- Custom/premium plugins
- Graphics
- Youtubers
- Developers (Web-Design and Setting up the VPS)
- Other Advertising
- Other

I would estimate about $300

It would be great to get some input from people that have created networks in the past and how much it cost them!(I hope this isn't to sensitive of a topic)

If you want it to be good, most likely $300 won't be enough. Just making a generic prison/factions/hg network won't work, we already have enough of those. To really make it, you have to stand out above the rest, and to do that, you'll need to do a lot more work and add in customization, which will in turn increase the cost significantly. Also, you forgot to factor in builds, which can easily set you back hundreds or even thousands of dollars when you think about it (You'll need prison mines, HG maps, a huge city map for that drugs server). Making a full network from the start can be super expensive (easily in the thousands), and if you can't afford it, I say start with 1 game mode and branch out. Let your network grow slowly, with donations on the way to help with funding. But keep in mind, it's not just about the the cost. If you really want a network to succeed, you need to be dedicated and put hard work towards it. If you're missing this, it can lead to the complete collapse of your server. Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the advice, I agree we have enough of those Generic servers out there. I completely forgot about builds so I'll add them in. I would love to make something custom but I don't know what I would do!!!

I'm spending around $500+ Just making my 'Network' without factoring the costs of advertising..

I tried to release a HCF server, and got it to 60 players daily.
But sold it so I could be staff on HydraPvP.Rip

That is not worth it.. You'd rather have a nice player base than be a staff on some server..

You're already staff on your own server that's pretty popular. :3

So far I've spent $275 on my Lobby alone, never mind the other 8 servers to come. I could of gone the cheap way and created some terrible server for $50. In conclusion (Not always true, depending on who works for you) the more you spend, the better it will be, I wouldn't really put a price on it though as many people do such different price ranges for different prices, just look around, honestly.

Lol I'm only just starting a network, starting with a survival/rpg/towns/pvp server, it's kinda varied lol. I've easily put in £1000+ Thats $1400? ^^
I only go for the best I can get so maybe I just end up paying more for that, but I when I got my builds done I quoted all the top builders I could find to get a nice price.

Starting small and working up would be the safe and maybe smart way to do it but I want things fast, which is why I'm paying two devs at once for the moment ^^ -It won't be great if my server fails but I'm to confident in it for that.

This might sound stupid but I've thought a lot about what else I want to do and if I get enough funding back from my first and second servers and I manage to get everything I want I'll spend £5000+ easily.

It comes at a large cost to my time too.

Alot more than that, you cant even start one server for that..

And I would stick to one server and not an intire network from scratch.
