This week we had quite a lot of news.
This week we had three major demotions, all due to innactivity. Three famous staff members known as thebaum64, Luxus and utaninja (Aka U-T-A-Ninja) were all demotes from their respective staff positions. Out of all the three, Thebaum expressed his feelings on this sudden change in a thread, which can be found here. Sadly, from collected information, it seems that these members weren’t aware of this sudden decision until their rank were
revoked as well as their access to the Slack. If anything new pops up, I’ll be sure to share it.
Edit: After a clarification from a community member, it seems this was to be expected. These staff members were notified previously on their backlog on the work needed to be done and failed to meet expectations. The demotion was not sudden and all were granted time to do their goodbyes. It seems that this was indeed a hard decision, and appropriate steps were taken to prevent this, however things happen and all three did not meet expected criterias.

As seen on the resource category, MCM is currently attempting to find a solid alternative to be able to put out as many paid/featured resources. However, due to the immense backlash from the community, especially from the people who paid for their featured slots, it has since then been reverted to the original.

I personally believe it is fair to be able to allow more members to be able to put sponsored slots, however the current system is broken and allows earlier members to hog sponsored slots. Instead, I'd recommend using a bidding system which allows users to bid for x amount of time (2 weeks interval) [Copying minecraftservers.org basically] to allow a certain rotation of the slots. Not only will this attract more people, but it'll be more profitable for the site itself. It's a win-win situation with little to none drawbacks.

Recently, a member known as Chelsea was banned for ban evading. Currently, I've seen a temp account however no signs of the unban hammer. It is quite an impact on the OG community as Chelsea had posted a thread selling the OG account "Toy".

It seems that recently, the extremely OG account "oof" has been attempted to be sold once again. It is said to be a scam attempt for the reputable scamming 'gang' who call themselves 'slime gang', however no concrete proof has been provided. However, following newer rules from MCM, accounts are no longer allowed to be sold if categorized as "scam accounts", hence making it quite an interesting situation.
I am not familiar with the OG account environment, however I've got quite some experience with cyber cracking. As far as I know, a lot of OG accounts are a result of black-hat trading and activity. Scam accounts are a result of that. Since the OG community is filled with people unaware of this, it seems that buying OG accounts for a good value seems like good profit, however it's a repetitive loop-hole. Accounts are being pulled left and right, and the only ones making the profit are the ones breaking the rules. I do not endorse this behavior, and I highly recommend any OG traders to do proper research on the account's history before doing any large purchases.
