MCM "News" Team

Similarly to the HF News Team who post every month about updates around the forum, I think it'd be neat to have a team of writers and active members (perhaps 10 at most) to write a news "blog" about MCM in the Announcements section pertaining to any changes, updates, staff promotions, and possibly even services that demand public notification. All of this would be monitored by a staff member/members in a Skype group or something, and prior to publishing, it would be reviewed by all staff for input.

I don't think you get it. He writes updates for the forum, around 1-2 new stuff that comes along. I'm saying we should talk about the community as a whole. He can do his thing, and we can do our thing.

Not saying what he does is inferior at all, I like his writing perfectly fine.

No need for your sarcasm here, the suggestion was merely an idea that I had. It's not like a News Team is proprietary to HF anyways.

We don't have weekly updates, announcements and changes and when we do, I feel like it contains way too much important information to be announced by a 'writer team'. I don't really like this idea that much but let's see where this thread goes.

I understand. However, if the team was chosen by quality writing and activity, I'm sure we're capable of representing MCM in a better light. Sharing news could bring the community closer together in my opinion, both staff and the team will work together in order to bring MCM members the information they deserve. Even better, there could be a section within the post alerting members to banned members that were thought to have been trusted (impostors, hacked accounts, etc. included) which could reduce scams.

Also, the way I thought of it, the writer team will share every 2 weeks to a month, since if we wrote every week, it'd most likely be a short post with nothing substantial in it.

I still don't see a reason for a dedicated team to do this. The management team are perfectly capable of writing these.

The purpose was to bring the staff closer to the members. If you think the members of MCM have a reason to like the staff much- you're wrong (no offense intended). That's why I want to stop the staff hatin'. Even if you disregard that point, are you sure the staff have so much free-time to make up a list of banned people that people should be alerted to, list all the updates on the forum, member achievements, services that should be noticed, MCM achievements, etc.? I think not, but if you were to select a team of a few people that were dedicated to this task, it'd be much more efficient.

What's the point in this? I can only see this bringing negativity and questioning.

There aren't that much updates every week. It's not hard to list these.

This all seems unnecessary and unneeded. I really see no point in announcing all this.

Honestly, it's just for the spirit of MCM. Might be interesting, and if you really don't think members should be notified of scamming members / hacked members in a more clear way, then I don't know what you really consider important. MCM has always been looked down upon, of course you realize how many hate Skype chats and convos and even posts on other forums. If you even had a chance to make MCM look better, would you take it? I don't see any potential harm it can cause, so why pass up this opportunity?

Sometimes people need to realise we're a marketplace. Unlike reddit, HF, Spigot, Bukkit, minecraftforum.net and whatnot. Sure, we allow discussions and all that but the main aspect of the forum is still selling/buying services/items.

No, it's not the banned members raging, it's your most active members who are supportive of the site- until they realize that staff are lying to them, managing the forums in questionable ways, and sometimes incompetent. They leave and tell others about it, and then the word spreads. I can't list off the number of scandals in MCM on both hands, it would take a dozen to even reach the surface.
But my point isn't disparaging the forums. We've come a long way since those things occurred, but if a forum loses its reputation, it's exceedingly hard to gain it back. I'm not saying this is a sure-fire way of succeeding, but in the end, this is just a suggestion. If you don't like it, I will respect your decision and close it.

If they get banned from the forum for doing something against our rules, it's highly recommended to not deal with them. I think that's a bit obvious.

I'm just giving my opinion on this. I'm not saying this won't happen because I think it's a bad idea. I'm just giving arguments as to why I think this is a bad idea.

I seriously appreciate every serious suggestion that gets posted. I usually just give my thought with it.
