Similarly to the HF News Team who post every month about updates around the forum, I think it'd be neat to have a team of writers and active members (perhaps 10 at most) to write a news "blog" about MCM in the Announcements section pertaining to any changes, updates, staff promotions, and possibly even services that demand public notification. All of this would be monitored by a staff member/members in a Skype group or something, and prior to publishing, it would be reviewed by all staff for input.

If they get banned from the forum for doing something against our rules, it's highly recommended to not deal with them. I think that's a bit obvious.
It's really not, considering members like SSenile and Linux managed to scam multiple people despite being banned, but I see your point.

I still don't know what your fundamental reasons for this being a bad idea is. If you don't like scammed members being broadcasted, just cut that part out.

I like the idea of making weekly announcements, personally. I think it's a good idea to help strength the relationship between staff and members and it's a good way to be transparent about different things we are doing behind the scenes. Let's be honest, there are lots of things that are happening behind the scenes all the time, but how do you guys really know that? For all the members know, we're sitting on our asses.

I like the idea of being a community representative of sorts to tell the community what's going on. I've always wanted to do that for you guys. I believe this would be a great opportunity to show you guys that we are making an effort to be more transparent about what we are doing and why we are doing it.

It doesn't even have to be weekly. Bi-weekly would probably do just fine.

Exactly what I'm thinking :) Bi-weekly to monthly would be the best, but I think bi-weekly better of the two. If you guys (staff members) make a decision on it, be sure to let me know! Really interested in this.

I thought it was a good idea when Rocket first posted this and said he was going to do it and was disappointed when that announcement was deleted. It seems like a common sense thing to update members of a forum of the goings-on of said forum. I think any change to the site, no matter how minor, should be documented publicly in some sort of changelog, unless it's a change made for security reasons.

I don't see any issue with this.

Easy community relations here. Hold a writing contest, judge it, pick the like top 5 winners to create a team and they can release bi-weekly articles about MC-M an happenings. It provides more transparency as people don't think "omfg the admins are JERKING AROUND ALL THE TIME LIARS" and allows for an expansion of user interaction beyond the current staff members.

I feel that the relationship between staff and users would be stronger if staff handled these news updates and not randomly selected writers from a contest. Writers have no way of being transparent about the happenings of MCM, because they aren't involved behind the scenes. Staff are. Something to think about.

Not randomly selected (at least in my suggestion). Also you mean they're not involved behind the scenes?

I'll be honest with you,

This suggestion seems very plain and pointless to me, let me explain:
  • For starters, we are a marketplace forums not a blog for mom's to post how to bake cookies. This goes agreement par what Ajdin has stated.
  • Anyone may do what your asking for, anyone may take the time out of the day to write up a decent summary on our updates. It makes it no better to hire a team dedicated for it.
  • "Even better, there could be a section within the post alerting members to banned members that were thought to have been trusted (impostors, hacked accounts, etc. included) which could reduce scams." I don't understand how this will end or reduce scammers. The only thing that will be happening is more questions being raised on why they're best friend is now known as a scammer, users still contact scammers - we can't stop them.
  • "All of this would be monitored by a staff member/members in a Skype group or something, and prior to publishing, it would be reviewed by all staff for input." What's the purpose of hiring members to do this if either way we'll have to review the thread. It's better off we have the administrators posting this as they know what's being added, they know what's going to be added in the future as far as updates go. This writer team does not have any consent to post it publicly or leak through for whatever reason.
  • "We are too busy" Not really, the staff team in general spends a decent amount of time. I see Ajdin on all the time testing for the future of MCM.
I don't see any use of having writers post announcements for us. We have to inform them on what to announce, and what they may not announce, we have to notify them what's right and what's wrong. To sum it up, it's better off the announcements are handled by the boys that understand which updates we decide on will be implemented on, the boys that have tested the newer features and understand how to work with them. Too many complications, a major risk of failure and wastage of time.

Not needed in my eyes, leave them be to the administrators for updates and to Mick for beautiful lucky sales or competitions. There is nothing else left to say.

I'll address the points one by one, as usual.

Sure "we're" a marketplace forums, but uh... who said we were blogging about baking cookies? Clearly you didn't get the meaning of my post, regardless of being a marketplace or not, this place is a community. I'm willing to wager that at least a half of us stay due to the friends and partners we've made here, not for profit (which is honestly rarely made here).

Anyone can do what I'm asking for, but will they do it? Could they do it in an organized and structured fashion? We're not being "hired", we're volunteering. If you think I'm willing do this out of pure joy and happiness of writing a petty blog, nah bruh.

That's true, I don't disagree with you on that, but it'd still be nice to give a clear and concise list of scammers (debatable, I know this one is far-fetched).

Lol, I don't understand this particular point at all. Reviewing a thread takes say, 25 times less time than actually writing a thread. When a teacher reviews an essay, it takes 10 minutes whereas the actual essay takes 2 hours.

The reason not to do this isn't because you're too busy. Despite whether you're busy or not, this is an opportunity for non-staff members to work with staff members. I don't care if you staff members are capable of writing this, that's my underline point. Sure, this whole thing might not be feasible with regards to efficiency, but does it improve the community? I sure think so.

How does it improve the community?

The thought of you not realizing what the future update holds, or the right ban lists makes you give us 'interviews' or 'ask' what you have to write. It rather should be created by the people who already understand the updates, have technically tested the features and understand how to handle it.

If a new member has a question about the update, we would have to reply when you do not understand or comprehend the question. Wastage of time, causes of delay, unnecessary promotions, and members curiousity will rise.

I do not approve of this suggestion. Too many cons, over one pro 'It will create relationships between staff and members' is definitely not worth it.

Alright, cool. I personally disagree, but not everyone can agree on something. But yeah, it's inefficient, I just think it'd be a cool addition to add. We'll await the final decision, although I'm pretty sure it's gonna get declined.

That's the problem.

Also, nobody here is your 'friend'. They're fellow "businessmen" or other members on a forum. You can class anyone as your friend, but realistically speaking you have no idea who I am, where I come from and what my intentions are. Same goes with everyone online.
