NOTE: I wrote this a few hours ago, so it may overlap with Anthony’s thread.
The “General Discussion” section has recently experienced an influx of this type of thread. Here’s my 1337 cents.
As montyburly and nara~kavi have noted, Mick has delegated his duties to the moderators. I am not exactly sure of how heavy their responsibilities are, however, it seems like more was accomplished back in the Verringer days. Action makes opportunity. So far, Mick has made very minute changes and I’m sure he has read at least one of these threads concerned with McM’s problems. We need an active owner who is flexible to other people’s opinions and is prepared to make thoughtful and well-planned decisions.
Purposeless rules have been added while the core ones aren’t even being enforced. Widely supported suggestions have been ignored. What the fuck is up with the new ranks “Compliance Officer,” “Senior Compliance Officer” and K3Feedz’s new name color? This hierarchy is superfluous: there should be “Moderator” and “Scam Reports Staff/Officer.” Keep it simple, silly.
I am not proposing that Mick should sell the website or a new owner is called for, however, I will advocate for everyone who believes we need Mick to step up and get shit done. I attend a rigorous school, am busy with extracurriculars, and I’m building my resume for next year’s college admissions, and yet I am very active on these forums. I’m sure a little bit more effort could be put in on the staff’s end.
Many people are arguing that particular staff members are unprofessional. To be honest, I have had pleasant experiences with Anthony R and K3Feedz. What I want is more endeavoring from Mick. You have to tend to the community routinely or else it will rot, just like if you don’t nurture a baby it’ll go on a dungheredungtheredungeverywhere escapade. The quality of posts has deteriorated and the core rules aren’t being enforced enough (LQ posts and also Rule #1, “Be Respectful” which I will explain in the next paragraph). Furthermore, hypocrisy is something we encounter daily when reviewing the actions of staff members.
A certain member has been harassing a few people, including myself, with unwarranted remarks of bigotry including “chink,” “dumb nigger,” and other forms of disrespect: “Fuck off” in response to a sales question, “What a loser” to a moderator when someone congratulated his promotion, and rating @Batman’s posts funny in retaliation to being put on the spot and having nothing else better to do. He also cracks Minecon cape accounts: no one legitimately obtains unmigrated cape accounts and then sells them for dirt cheap. He was banned for his least “rating abuse?” Give me a break.
In addition, I have a suggestion for the Scam Reports section: consider and amalgamate other members’ opinions and analyses instead of having 1 judge, who may be partial or simply is not well-versed in the subject. This will efficiently prevent more discrepancies and wrong/biased decisions made by Scam Reports staff. What I am putting forth is a jury-esque concept. My apologies if this has been suggested and denied before.
Ignorance is bliss. If I hadn’t read any of those change-inspiring threads I would have been happy with the majority of McM and would have went with the flow. McM’s in tough shape. Step it up.
P.S. Sorry if I was redundant. #rant
