1. Rules

If there aren't any rules, besides the ones mentioned on https://www.mc-market.org/wiki/rules/ as the server says, its fair game. Griefing, end crystal pvp, combat logging, etc.

So get someone to make some.

2. Enable PvP

Disabling PvP encourages people to go to the extremes. Jasmine set down a bed and exploded it, killing Blaze. in the end. There's the ability to now craft end crystals, leading to 2b2t combat. This leads to more explosive "PvP" encounters that damage terrain and loot.

Thus, I ask to enable melee and ranged weapon PvP as many will resort to this instead if "terrain explosive PvP" styles are prohibited, for the sake of lag and keeping the server looking somewhat pristine.

3. If #2 is enabled, disable MCMMO pvp related skills.

Namely, Axe skills, Sword skills, Unarmed skills, acrobatic skills.

These all relate to PvP in some fashion. Unarmed skill essentially lets you do damage with your bare fists if you level it up & you can steal other player's items in their hand temporarily I believe? Axe skills break down armor much quicker. Sword skills enable "Bleeding" effects.

4. Revert combat style to 1.8
There's plugins to do this. Disable shields. Even on "Easy" difficulty with mob's spawning their predefined rates, a new player will definitely be overwhelmed without prioritizing a shield, learning to use it, and delay their hits with sword against monsters that swarm them in the caves and forests.

On "easy" difficulty, I was swarmed by mobs in the mineshafts and I was cooking up some ores. Luckily I had a shield and iron sword, with some armor, and plenty of food. Its a rather annoying learning curve instead of spam clicking to kill mobs with 1.8 PvE mechanics.

They might just rule out killing as a whole? Just disable killing in general.

If they do that, no one's probably going to be incentivized to play. An SMP thats completely peaceful works for active large "peacefully minded" players. MCM has got plenty of PvP fanatics or at least trouble makers who would love to spice up the server climate with kind of drama.

SMP Earth was fun for that reason, and I think it may still be going on. But all the "politics" is what drives an entertaining community in an SMP sense.

Correction, I tp'd to her and she was in the end, then she placed a bed down and blew me up.

Rules and order do need to be set in place though, I can agree with that.

I agree with this, if players want to duke it out, whatever. Players shouldn't be allowed to just trap players and suicide them. Some extra rules like portal trapping and the like would help aswell, as I heard someone has already tried doing that.

I don't understand why it was disabled in the first place. Players should be allowed to fight whoever they want as long as they have consent to do so. PvP is part of the game :/

I don't understand why acrobatic's should be disabled, it's not necessarily a PvP skill, unless you're refering to how a player can run away and take little damage from fall damage if they have a high enough level. Personally, I feel this shouldn't be disabled.

I disagree with this, the reason is in the name of the thread "MCM SMP", this is survival multiplayer, I 100% love the 1.8 PVP system, but for PvE it's just much better for it. You would be right, it is a learning curve, but it's not that big in my opinion, but I understand where you come from.

If there are falling traps, players with high acrobat can easily negate fall damage to a point where others who don't know to follow in and die while chasing them, or simply be trapped.

Acrobatic skill can also be easily farmed/leveled up with just stacking up or a staircase and jumping off for hours upon hours lol.[DOUBLEPOST=1591065944][/DOUBLEPOST]

Oh, I forgot beds could explode in the end for some stupid reason even though I've seen people speed run MC lmao. My bad, yeah it was in the end then.

I'm not entirely sure if this suggestion was made while our SMP was released or before that, but we won't be introducing this. I think that we still have the SMP up, but we aren't actively adding things to it or promoting it anymore since it died out pretty quick anyways. Our community's just not very interested in these sorts of events and other shorter UHC/minigame events seemed to do better.
