Hello, and welcome to MCM Weekly, issue #23! I'm your host User, and today's issue comes packed with news from the last two weeks (I was on vacation last week, with my only internet access being disconnected every 30 seconds and only accessible through a 7-year-old tablet with a screen so shattered that it's taped in multiple places to prevent glass shards from falling out). Before we begin, I plan to interview a staff member for next week's issue of MCM Weekly. SITE NEWS
In staff news, Geek has been promoted to moderator, and three brand new chat moderators, Ally, xdrien, and twinightcreep0 have joined the team!
After being in the works for over a year, the next forum update has finally been shown to the public. The update is scheduled for early/mid-2021 and is planned to include new ultimate perks, a brand new site theme, new addons, business threads/resources, and more!
Along with the site updates, we have a new official UHC community event, starting August 8th at 8 PM GMT. The game is set to be a "teams of two" with a $100 prize and a contest winner medal on the site. For more info, please visit the official list of MC-Market event rules and the official announcement.
Lastly, there's a 24-hour sale going on, with 50% off account upgrades and 25% off ad manager purchases, as well as a few "permanent" tweaks to site ad/sticky thread prices.

TECH NEWS
As of July 31st, Donald Trump, the President of the United States, publicly stated that he planned to ban TikTok from being used within the country due to privacy/security concerns regarding China stealing data through the app. According to him, he would have begun yesterday. Microsoft originally planned to buy the app from ByteDance, its Chinese owners, but these talks stopped after Trump rejected the idea.
Apple recently filed a patent for a brand new display technology using radar. This new radar technology would allow cheaper, thinner, and more energy-efficient touch detection, as well as more precision when working on large displays. The tech isn't limited to touchscreens, either, and will also work with projections.
