Heyo! My name is DocDrewskii and I have a suggestion that could help users combat and protect users from impersonaters on discord.

Suggestion Details

Alright, so now that I have your attention, today I will be recommending MC-Market to create a official discord server with verification.

Why this Suggestion Could Benefit the community

Community Inteaction such as giveaways, community events (Karaoke, Movie Night, etc...) and more active/interaction between members using MC-Market.
Impersonator Protection: Having a discord that you can discover users from their MC-Market profile would be cool and help defend users from being impersonated and other users from getting scammed from these impersonators.
Community Outreach - This could help expand MC-Market and give users direct connections to users that use MC-Market

Features

Discord Bot that verifies the user On-Site and links to the discord server.
Verified-Only discord chat/category; If users aren't verified, they cannot read/view any channels in the category.
Discord and Forums Name Layout; If users are verified, their nickname would be DiscordName (Forums Name) this could help fight and defend against impersonators.​

The possibilities people have with having a MC-Market discord.
They have no saying in there, this is the site, keep it to the site.
Everything can be faked on discord.

This would just split the userbase between the forums and discord and there's a lot of overlap, and functions like the shoutbox would become obsolete. Also, you would obviously need moderators and those are just resources this site doesn't have

This same suggestion has been denied about a few dozen times in the past.
It's not that "good suggestions" get denied, it's that there are genuine reasons for not having them, and every time someone posts the same suggestion it's not like there's going to be a different response.
A good way to gauge why this has been denied in the past is to go into the Denied Suggestions forum and search 'Discord'.

My main reason for not agreeing to this: having a discord server would mean people would be chatting there and spending time there, instead spending the time on the actual site, posting in cb etc. It would decrease traffic to the site, which is not something we want. All traffic should be focused towards the site in order to push it even more out there and organically get new members and make more people discover mc-market.

An unoffical mcm discord was created by User some time back also, did not pop off.

My bad, I thought this would be a cool suggestion and I didn't realize that it has been suggested and denied in the past. I figured that if MCMarket had a discord, it would help with community engagement as I heard mick talking about ways to improve the users/website to make it reach a broader audience and this was an idea I came up with. The reason I thought it was viable was because Spigot has an official discord and it seems to be a place where a wide variety of users could chat, ask for support, services etc...
