So I was just making a quick portal page and I thought that the MCM profile link looked a bit ugly, for example

Alright, there is one large problem with this. If a user changes their name, then it messes up google results, which is no good. I don't see this happening.

Since we're using an addon for namechanges, it wouldn't really work that well.

I agree up until the fact that if you change your name the link would have to be removed and again as stated by Devon, Google Search results would be messed up.

I like the IDs better. When I do a deal with an MCM member, I always take down the ID number so I can easily look them up again in the future if I need to. If the URL was based on username, that would become difficult for me. -1

What you could do is select a name, like Facebook's system as it would be harder to change every time your name does.
