Members can delete their own threads

As the title says, this is one of the first forums ive been to that does not allow this and I dont see a reason why. We made the thread we should be able to delete it.
Ive made threads requesting for help and it was dealt with then i get necro posted with more people asking weeks later. I should be able to close my thread when ive received help. It would also cut down on flame wars on threads, I see big fights that has been sitting there for 12+ hours before staff clear it.

If there is a legitimate reason why we cant do this id like to hear it

Maybe not a delete button but maybe a lock button of sorts for maybe premium members to lock their own threads.

Deleting would probably be abused a bit, if they get exposed/called out they could just erase the thread entirely. I've actually never been on a forum where you can delete a thread, only your posts.

Locking would be a better alternative, I'm not sure if it is already but would be a nice supreme/premium feature

You can already lock your own marketplace related threads by selecting "Closed", "Complete", "Completed" or a similar prefix. Supreme members may trash their threads.
