I'm fairly certain he was either messing with you, your two had a little miscommunication because deleting messages in private conversation has never been an ability for supreme or any member.
For the reasons stated before.

It's not allowed because if someone is dealing onsite and is scammed, no user can delete their messages to cover up the evidence or whatever.

Messages are private and we can only see them if they are reported. We can't delete them. That's the whole purpose of conversations. So you can contact someone else privately.

As for the thread, this isn't a bug. It's intended. We already allow softdeleting posts(meaning staff can still see them) but for conversations something like that isn't possible and it can cause confusions during deals if messages start disappearing.
