Hey Guys, Girls & Mobs!
So after a fair bit of research about the Microsoft takeover of Mojang for $2.5 Billion Dollars we can all predict that Microsoft will ruin Minecraft just like it has with many other products they've bought out, there's already talk of what Microsoft's plans are with the game and one of those plans is to make Minecraft free or so we think so. Microsoft has said that they will be making the base game free but removing a lot of core features so they can sell things such as "Premium Content" and "DLC", but what are they removing exactly? Well evidently there's word of removing diamonds from the core game so users must buy the "Diamond Pack" premium package in order to be allowed to get diamonds. There was also talk of in the "Free Minecraft 2" developed by Microsoft that they would remove all Multiplayer Functionality, Creative and the ability to Mod unless users purchase a DLC to enable all these features.
Minecraft 2 Release Date: December 1st, 2016 (Not Confirmed)
Here you can also find the trailer:
Now after watching the trailer it kinda feels like Microsoft has gotten rid of one of the core functions of Minecraft, the fact that it's a Cube Based Sandbox Game. In the trailer you can clearly see that blocks will now fall in a 3-Dimensional fashion and also that lava won't spread out block to block but will poor out like proper lava? Although that may seem cool it takes away everything that started Minecraft, there was also in the trailer what appears to be End Crystals atop the giant pillars of Obsidian bursting randomly out of the ground and the Ender Dragon appearing in the Overworld without the need for a Spawner, Mod or Command? What happens to the players who play Minecraft on Peaceful or the 5 year olds who first start the game and go to punch some trees WHEN SUDDENLY A GIANT TOWER AND ENDER DRAGON BURST OUT OF THE GROUND SENDING BLOCKS FLYING EVERYWHERE!
I will have to admit a cool new feature I like but don't completely like will be when you mine say an ore the stone around it crumbles into little rocks, I must say this is a cool feature to have in Minecraft but then at the same time it takes a little more away from what Minecraft was originally started off, where a block just disappears and the Diamond or Ore Block is left behind.
One has to ask the question of what will happen to all of those of us who have been here with Minecraft since that cute little buggy Alpha version developed by one person alone? Will users just decide to not update and continue on 1.9 or will the hundreds of millions of users flock away from Minecraft and cause its downfall?
I was one of the users that thought Mojang actually cared about the community and it's players, but clearly they only cared about the money otherwise Notch would not have handed us over to the hands of the Evil Microsoft Corporation and would've have continued to make Minecraft the amazing sandbox game it's always been.
So again you must ask yourselves, will Microsoft truly be the downfall of Minecraft? Or is there still hope for the rest of us?
