Make a requirement to post in the middleman section people like Seb1 are great middlemans and fully legit but then you get 10 rep 30 msg members trying to middleman for rep and it's annoying and pushing seb's legit business down the wrong end. Make it like 5 months on MCM 500 posts 200 reactions minimum to be able to middleman like the loans and investments reqs

Fully agree.

I dont know if I should laugh or cry when I see a new member that joined yesterday offering a middleman service.

This is definitely something to be considered. I see no value from having new members middleman. It's not like it's the most profitable business in the world, not if you do it legit anyway.

It's funny, because when I first joined this site, the first thing I offered was middle-manning services. =')
And you know what...
I've become no more trustworthy now than I was back then.
I'm the same person. You would not have realized this though, unless you gave me a chance, which is what I think most if not all of these lowly middlemen in that forum are there trying to do.
Because if they can successfully middleman for other members' deals, they can create/manage their own. Suspicion removed/decreased.
Only difference for me, now, is that I'm staff, and can no longer do any middlemanning.

I do believe everyone deserves a chance at proving themselves to the community.
And I don't believe I've ever seen someone getting scammed by a middleman, so if there has been a case like that, it's few and far between.
It's just not a good position to take on the forums if you want to scam.
You don't control how much money is involved, you don't control what the product is..

Taking away from Seb's business?... This is a marketplace.
The whole point of a marketplace is that people looking for a service have options.
If you don't want to give a new member a shot, hey that's your call.
But considering the forum, they should be given the same posting opportunity we give them in the builds section, or the development section, or any section where new members start out, and try to prove themselves trustworthy.

Now go ahead and disagree. I've said what I needed to.

There's plenty of GOOD middleman, and the reason there is a lack of "Middleman" scams is because I think the vast majority of the members realize that you shouldn't trust a person who joined Yesterday with your $300 transaction. I'm in support of regulating the section.
I agree

My body is ready.
that did not seem like a good phrase for the context Kappa Kappa ;)

Also, fully agree, new members middlemanning is stupid, imo Kappa

MM services are pointless and should be removed all together. It only adds an unnecessary layer to the transaction, and provides no extra security. I'd actually be less likely to want to do business with someone if they demand MM. I feel they could be prone to wanting to chargeback or cause transaction drama.

Here are a couple scenarios...

Example 1)
MM takes money and runs. Buyer loses money. Who is accountable? No one. Buyer has to go through Paypal/bank/credit card to try and recoup loss.

Example 2)
Transaction goes smooth. Some time down the line the buyer decides to charges back. Guess who gets hit? Not the seller, but the MM, since the actual initial transaction was between the buyer and the MM. This same scam could happen between the MM and the seller, with the MM charging back. Again, who is accountable? No one, still have to go to Paypal/bank/CC to try and recoup. REAL escrow companies are licensed and insured to cover any sort of liability. Some random kid on these forums is not.

When a convoluted transaction happens, it just makes it that much more difficult to get your money back when working with Paypal. If you want actual security, deal with people who are trusted, and make sure the transaction is done through a method that can be disputed should something happen. Your security is Paypal, your bank, or your credit card, not some random teenager on forums adding an unnecessary step in a transaction.

I definitely agree with this. Is 500 posts and 200 ratings too much though do you think? Is it too little? I'd like to implement this in the next update but an exact amount you need should be discussed.

at least 15 rep points
Very good idea to add reputation into the requirements. Maybe we'll make the only requirement to post in the middleman section would be to have 15 reputation and 5 months active or so.
