I feel like its growing; however ever since 1.8 came out it fucked up minecraft as you could no longer blockhit
After that shields etc.. made the gamemode too complex for people who are aged 10 etc..

It’s not even that it’s too complex it’s just completely unnecessary. Minecraft combat was fairly fast paced and required learning how to strafe and combo. Now it’s extremely slow and dull and you only have to have better items to outlast an opponent.

Not exactly true because if you’re good with the new combat you can easily beat out opponents for example xNestorio lost in his 1.13 uhc and hes apparently one of the best uhc pvpers ever
Was the person he was fighting have better armor/weapons?
No they were both plain diamond

Nestor has always been open to new things
It's growing but at a slower rate. Seems dead because EULA killed servers so the community feels sparse, but there's still a ridiculous number of people playing singleplayer and smaller servers. IIRC it actually recently overtook Tetris as the best-selling game of all time.
I find it funny how they released Minecraft realms out alongside the EULA expecting it to take off. When the community didn’t roll over and buy into their overpriced service they fucked off and focused on other ways to extort the community.
The amount of copies sold since its release isn’t the best indicator to tell if the Java Edition is gaining momentum like it used to.
Minecraft is far from dead.
Minecon live is nothing compared to the old school conventions they used to have.
