Hello MCM,

I made a video showing some correlation between some trends on Google (and Server Counts) that show Minecraft & Minecraft Hosting is dying

Watch it here if you wish:

One big thing I forgot to mention is how Minecraft is dying and the amount of people wanting hosting is going down, yet the amount of companies is going up, not healthy.

How exactly do you propose we solve this? This "unhealthy" breed of new companies is completely unstoppable. Only solution for established hosts is to adapt or fail.

Completely agree, the only feasible solution is for the actual reputable companies that are run by people who truly know what they're doing is to make a competitive edge against the skid/summer hosts that are just looking to make a quick buck. In a perfect world, we'd get rid of the shitty $1/gb (or even less!) summer hosts and let reputable companies that are actually able to make a profit, pay support staff, and have a good service lead the way, but alas, with the average child looking to make a small server, $1/GB is alot more appealing than $2.50/GB.

And this is why people need to ensure their business isn't just Minecraft. :)

Maybe people know what Minecraft host are actually decent enough and and stopped looking around/searching for it on Google. Same thing with those popular servers as well. Many people now know about it and don't search it up anymore. I'd seen that Google trends is not the most reliable source of info out there. It may just be me though...

I'm a tad considered that you advertised your host at the end...

If you don"t want to lose the business, I suggest you move on from minecraft and enter the realm of steam gameserver hosting. Garry's mod is very popular.

Problem about that is, that Web Hosting, VPS' and Dedis are the most popular behind Minecraft, and most people go to a very well known company especially for VPS' and Dedis[DOUBLEPOST=1525818544][/DOUBLEPOST]

Garry's mod :joy: search on YouTube and look at the last 7 weeks, the max views it hits is 800k, I would bet that Minecraft is more popular than Garry's mod and steam games.

what does youtube have to do with garry's mod. Garry's mod is a very popular game that many people play. It won't die for a while.

Lot's of games have popular YouTubers, if you don't have popular YouTubers, it shows that a game isn't that popular... and according to Google Trends it's been on the down. This also shows it's popularity isn't at a peak/very high: http://prntscr.com/jfhjru[DOUBLEPOST=1525819066][/DOUBLEPOST]
I don't know what Hoot said, what was it?

The idea that more people want to invest their time and money into a possible return in investment (hosting), helps strengthen the community. I would be far more worried if there was 1 host rather 100.

The natural equilibrium of supply and demand will eventually drive some of these companies, and some will thrive. However the hope of thriving is what is bring them in, not because it's 'unhealthy'.

I don't think there is a doubt minecraft is dying, however google trends is not as reliable as, said above, it is so well known now you don't need to google as much.

In all honesty I think you made this post just to have people view your video, which covers a topic covered by 100x bigger, more educated youtubers, who provide better facts and have more resources.

Please, look the real interesting statistics.
40M active players every months in 2016
55M active players every months in 2017
74M active players every months in 2018
50K account sold every day

Minecraft isnt dying, you just have understand that the 1998-2003 kids are stoping playing MC and the new kids are coming. You need to learn what marketing is, u have to orientate your buisness for the news community which is coming. Im wondering how you can run a company if you don't see things like that ...

And for the people who agree with Hoot, just let the new companys come. Its how they are gonna learn how this world is working. Just doing the same than your concurrent isnt the good way to become the #1
