Minecraft is actually more popular than it was in 2013 when the game reached its “peak”.

People are massively uninformed.

Should I keep going? This took my a total of 5 minutes to find all of these articles.
There’s dozens more articles discussing their sales.

Again, people are just uninformed and live in their bubble so when their group of servers or their forums don’t have thousands or tens of thousands of players they consider the game dead or just fall into pure pressure and start spewing information because someone else said it.

This is especially true with games like Fortnite becoming the new top dog which attract all the attention. People think that because Minecraft isn’t the hot topic on YouTube or gaming that it is dead. It isn’t.

The same goes for youtubers.
People think that just because a youtuber with 1 million subs quits that the game is dying.

AntVenom did a good piece on this topic.

It is dying in some places in the world, generally the important ones. For example, Turkey. Turkey was once one of the countries that made up a lot of the playerbase, now they switched to CS:GO, and makes up 3% of CS:Go's PB

Java is dying.
The atrocious shit-stain that is mobile/bedrock is growing.

The fact they replaced "Minecraft" with "Minecraft - Java Edition" makes that pretty clear.

Maybe that is true but I am sure that the PC edition still has millions of active users per month. They are just spread out into tens of thousands or so of servers, not to mention modded single player.

See the problem with these articles and the problem that many youtubers make when creating videos on whether or not Minecraft is dead or dying is perception. Yes, Minecraft does have incredible numbers... On other platforms not including PC. Sure Minecraft has a lot of people playing mobile or on the Ps4/Xbox. But when I say Minecraft is dying I don’t mean any of these platforms because in all honesty I don’t even consider them to be “Minecraft.” The PC or “Java” edition is the one true Minecraft version and it’s what people are referring to when they make this claim.

On top of that I wouldn’t use AntVenom as a source for Minecraft facts. He kisses up to Mojang and rarely faults them for any of their mistakes and often times disregards valid points made by members in the community. Alongside that for someone who keeps saying Minecraft is dying he sure loves to bring the subject up (He's made multiple videos about Minecraft dying within a short period of time).

I'll just quickly state my opinion on the matter below:

Minecraft PC/Java Edition however you would like to call it, hasn't been doing well compared to other games or it's sistergames (mobile/bedrock). I feel like it has been neglected and development on the mobile/bedrock version have been prioritized over it sadly. The upcoming release of Hytale, although released as a "new game", will be quite a blow for PC minecraft. I'm personally convinced that Minecraft PC/Java Edition will recover eventually but I feel like Hytale will be a wake up call for mojang to shift their attention back to what Minecraft originally started as, a PC game, and also try to progress this version and develop it more as an effort to win back what they will lose and have already lost for a part.
